Small Farm Fibers LLC is
a small company in a small town. The founding family lives
outside of an unincorporated hamlet, 17 miles from the nearest
full-service grocery store, on an 80-acre farm in the Ozark
foothills of northeast Arkansas. Here we grow fine wool
sheep and angora goats.
We didn't always live on the farm or in really small towns.
Up to the early 1990's, we were suburbanites with professional
jobs (chemical plant engineering and construction contracting).
We discovered that growing things and raising livestock is every
bit as complicated as any chemical plant.
In late 2006, we set up our woolen mill in an old building we
renovated in lovely downtown Pocahontas, Arkansas.
Here we turn our high-quality raw wool and mohair into fabulous
products that maximize the hidden potential of these sometimes
underappreciated materials.
Our farm and Small Farm Fibers, the woolen mill, are our
experiment. We're hoping to prove that the old art of
creating fashion almost by hand and from scratch can compete by
making exceptional products that are practical, but luxurious.
We want to make the kind of product you buy to pamper yourself. |
